Prunus Cerasoides
Also known as: Prunus Puddum, The Wild Himalayan Cherry Tree

This gorgeous species is a deciduous cherry tree found in East Asia. It is of the family Rosaceae and the genus Prunus. Its range extends in the Himalayas from Himachal Pradesh in India to southwest China and Burma.

It is a medium sized tree which grows up to 30 meters in height. It flowers in autumn and winter, specifically in January and February. Outstanding flowers are hermaphroditic and are pinkish white in color. Great specimen for bonsai.

The tree thrives in well-drained and moisture-retentive loamy soil. It requires an open, sunny and sheltered location. Seeds can take many months to germinate and should be cold stratified for 2-3 months to speed up the process.

The cherry fruits can be eaten raw or cooked. The fruits and the seeds can be used as a dark green dye. Seeds can be used in the manufacture of necklaces and rosaries. The wood is hard, strong, durable and aromatic. Said to be able to tolerate temperatures down to USDA zone 8.

Choose from packs of 20 or 50 seeds.
