Catunaregam spinosa
Also known as: Mountain Pomegranate, False Guava, Gela, Common Emetic Nut

The native range of this deciduous tree/shrub is SE Kenya to Tanzania, Pakistan to S. China and W. Malesia. It grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical and subtropical biome. It is unrelated to the pomegranate, and is actually part of the gardenia-coffee family.

Flowers are extremely fragrant and will attract bees to act as pollinators. They appear white on the first day and turn yellow the following day. It can grow up to 10 meters tall and branches do have stout thorns. Almost all parts of the plant are used as traditional herbals, fruits are edible after roasting and are crushed for soap to wash clothes. Wood is used for making walking sticks.

Thrives in warmer climates, typically USDA Hardiness Zones 10-11 requiring full sun, well-drained soil, and tolerating arid conditions, making it suitable for frost-free or very mild winter regions. Sandy to loamy, slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6-7.5) soil. Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings.

This offer is for 10 seeds.
