Cordia dichotoma 8 Stones / Seeds, Indian or Clammy Edible Cherry Fruit Tree Shrub
The Plant Attraction
Cordia dichotoma
Also known as: Fragrant Manjack, Indian or Clammy Cherry, Glue Berry Tree
Here is a moderate-sized deciduous tree/shrub native to the Indomalayan realm, northern Australia, and western Melanesia, India and China. It can reach 27 meters in height with a short bole and spreading crown. Flowers are short-stalked, bisexual, white in color which open only at night. The fruit is a yellow or pinkish-yellow shining globose which turns black on ripening and the pulp gets viscid. Some say the fruit tastes like a combination of pineapple and mango and can be eaten fresh, pickled, or used as a vegetable. It's used in cooking, baking desserts, or as a beverage juice. The bark, leaves and fruit all have medicinal properties.
It prefers full sun and moderate water. A deep, moist, sandy loam is ideal, but it can tolerate a range of well-draining soils. The plant can tolerate some drought, especially when established. This is a tropical to subtropical plant that does not tolerate frost well. USDA Zones 9β12 and can be grown in containers on patios or in greenhouses in cooler areas.
This offer is for 8 stones which can contain 1-4 seeds each.
