Syringa Reticulata 20 Seeds, Cold Hardy Fragrant Flowering Japanese Lilac Tree
The Plant Attraction
Syringa reticulata
Also known as: Japanese Lilac
Here is a highly fragrant, handsome lilac tree that is native to eastern Asia and is grown as an ornamental in Europe and North America. This tree’s large white clusters of flowers are 10 inches wide, up to a foot long and the over powering fragrance will attract pollinators such as butterflies and hummingbirds, along with other insect pollinators. This species is a late bloomer and can also be either single or multi-stemmed. With an attractive shape, reddish bark, and white trunk speckles, it can reach heights of 30 feet and spreads of 15-20 feet. They offer four-season interest, and are equally at home in the city, on a small property, or on the rambling grounds of a grand estate. Arguably they are the most trouble-free lilac. It is essential that if you prune these, do so in late fall or winter when it is dormant but doing so may sacrifice some of the following season’s blossoms.
Blooms best if planted in full sun with good air circulation. Prefers moist, well-drained soils and will tolerate dry sites, alkaline soils, and road salts. This makes it well suited as an urban landscape tree. USDA zones 3 to 7 and not recommended for hot environments.
This offer is for 20 seeds.
