It produces clusters of fragrant, green flowers that resemble that of a Hoya plant.

Commonly consumed as a seasonal vegetable and its source of fiber. Young shoots and leaves can be consumed raw or cooked and are often eaten in salads and curries. The rind of the unripe fruit is also used in traditional Indian cuisine. Flowers can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable as well.

It is extensively prescribed to treat conditions such as eye ailments, general debility, tumors, asthma, stress-related disorders, inflammatory and painful conditions, skin diseases and hemorrhoids.

Requires a moist, well-drained soil in full sun. It can be indoors and container grown. Tolerating to at least USDA zone 9, some reports say lower but we cannot verify that.
