Datura Double Metel Purple
Also known as: Double Datura, Devil's Trumpet, Horn of Plenty, Jimson Weed, Devil's Weed.
A showpiece in any garden, it boasts some of the largest and showiest blooms spring through fall. The blooms will face upwards and will produce a double (sometimes triple) trumpet. Purple colors swirl around a cream center, it truly is beautiful! Each plant can have several blooms open at any given time. Although some Datura are without fragrance, this particular plant produces flowers with a delicate, slightly spicy aroma that permeates the air at night. Their round, spiny seed pods burst open when ripe.
Datura are all annuals or short-lived perennials in warm climates with no woody growth. Hardy to Zone 9 and higher. Grows to 2-3’ in containers making it still a very popular plant in colder regions. Rapid growing in full sun or partial shade and thrive in high heat, particularly in humid areas. Great for patios, porches, and smaller landscapes.
Very attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and sphinx moths.
*This is not a Brugmansia but is closely related.
Although they are highly cultivated and collectable with many medicinal uses, all parts of Datura are poisonous, with the seeds and leaves being especially dangerous. Caution is advised.
This offer is for 10 seeds.
